Telemedicine
Mariposa is an active participant in the Arizona Telemedicine
Program and our patients are able to receive specialty
consults from physicians at the University of Arizona
Health Sciences Center using state of the art telemedicine
equipment on site at Mariposa. In addition, the teleconferencing
capabilities also provide Mariposa providers an opportunity
to stay abreast of the latest clinical developments by
participating in some of the 500 hours of continuing
medical education training programs and lectures available
from the Arizona Telemedicine Program. (See: www.telemedicine.arizona.edu)
Teleophthalmology
One of the most serious but preventable complications
of diabetes is diabetic retinopathy, a chronic deterioration
of the retina that ultimately can lead to blindness. In
partnership with the University of Arizona’s
Ophthalmology Department and the University’s
Telemedicine Program, Mariposa offers retinopathy
screening with state-of-the-art equipment. A digital
image of the retina is transmitted to the University
for interpretation by a board certified ophthalmologist.
Electronic Dental Records
In 2005, Mariposa’s dental department implemented
a state of the art, electronic dental record system.
The new system supports clinical practice with digital
radiology, enhanced treatment planning and patient education.
